Power to exempt

  1. (1) The Minister may, after consultation with the National Council for Local Government, by order published in the Gazette, exempt any person or building or land, or any class of persons or type of buildings or lands, from all or any of the provisions of this Act, subject to such terms and conditions as may be specified in the order.

(2) Any person who fails to comply with any term and condition under subsection (1) commits an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding one hundred thousand ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years or to both.
